Conventional text. among the most important tools in the history of man.

The written word alone has been a major component in our evolution of society. It is capable of educating, informing, entertaining. and even condeming mankind since its creation some thousands of years ago, and since then has changed quite allot in some respects gradually just as society its self changes. But text its self through history has not changed much at all in other respects, but instead the methods of printing have , take for example, how it is displayed on the "page" or screen. Text "fonts" or the shape of the letters which make up the individual words as they are called, are still primarily black in color and written from left to right to the end of the line and then starting over on the left side of the page. this method with a few exceptions is standard throughout most of the world. (some are right to left or top to bottom) this 2 dimensional approach although highly affective presents some problems to the reader which must be delt with in order to read and understand the message being represented. Some of these problems include eye strain caused partialy by the eyes need to focus on a specific line of text while at the same time glance at individual letters in each word in that line, some times the eye must be repositioned several times in order to decypher the shape of one single letter as compared to another letter which may look similar to it. it is then nessicary for the eye to move to the next letter and the next and so on decyphering each as they come until finally all of the letters are recognised and the brain must combine these letter shapes in the form of a word and then must assign meaning to seen word. This is an extremely complex process which all happens in a microsecond. But those microseconds add up when your reading a book which may contain several thousand words. another problem which is perhaps a bit easier to explain and understand is one which we all as readers face almost every time we read. Heres the senario Your are reading a sentance and as the text approaches the right hand column and continues on the next line, one "click " down and on the left.when your eye accidentally moves down 2 "clicks" and suddenly you find that feeling that you missed something so you have to go back, find your place and carefully trace the line back to the left so that you can pick up where you left off. or the oposit happens and you dont skip down at all and you find your self rereading the same line sometimes 3 times before you actually make the transition to the correct line. Well if you know what im talking about then you know how frustrating it can be when you are trying to read something important and you eyes just wont cooperate with you.
These problems are both eliminated with the cybertext communications proposal, Because there are colors in place of shapes and there is an animated text display that brings the words to your eye rather than making your eye follow the words.
